Damn, the final chapter being Griffith, Guts and Casca finally interacting after 20 years (the last reunion was in the hill of swords in 2001) feels like a cruel joke and it hurts so bad that it had to end there. I've been a longtime fan, 7 years now, and I always dreamt this reunion, how Griffith's humanity would appear and how Guts would react to seeing him again. How Casca and Guts' goals would diverge. This was a dream for me, always. It's cruel it has to end there. But I think this is an ending where we can imagine what we want next.

I wish Miura's notes could be published so we'd know what he was planning next. But with everything that happened, I would be glad as long as the future of Berserk is according to Miura's wishes. If he wanted it to continue, and this was a known fact (which is hard bc his death was sudden) then the assistants could try concluding it. If Berserk ends here, then I'd also be fine with it. It would be hard to continue Berserk without Miura's superb writing and excellent character depth after all.

In any case, after reading this chapter I'm left with a sense of frustration but I'm also moved because this is the last chapter and the last panels drawn by Miura. It's truly the end of an era, and Berserk as we know it, as Miura's creation, ends here. I'm deeply thankful for having read such an amazing story with such intriguing characters and jaw-dropping art. Thank you Miura

decent chapter, we got 100% proof that the brat was griffiths (the smart fanboys already speculated on it) and so it ends.
I think the next scene would have been us seeing a huge demon army at the horizon, monsters come and kill, rape and burn all fantasia, guts gets his dragon slayer and kills all demons while femto rapes casca again, then casca bites his D and guts kills femto... happily ever after

I know it's been a long time but the Demon Child's body, if you remember, was swallowed by the Egg of the Perfect World and matured into a vessel that was used for Griffith's rebirth at Albion. They are 2 in the same body as the Demon Child didn't completely vanish after Griffith's takeover.

Honestly, this chapter kind of reveals how Miura would have ended this series.

I don’t really feel like the story needs to continue. Unless Miura left a very specific manuscript about how he wanted this series to end.

Nonetheless I’m content with this ending.

I'm in the same boat, part of me wants it to continue and the other part is fine with an unfinished story. It's not as if we have a choice anyway. This final chapter was probably the beginning of a whole new ark. What would have been in it? We will never know.

Thank you for all the endless hard work, Miura. It's strange to mourn for a story, an introspective and human tale at its core that was of its own kind. I hope we see the intended ending and it continues on to carry on the legacy but if this is where the metaphorical train stops, it was one of the most entrancing rides of my life.

I'm definitely not the only one who thought that this was a very inconvenient place for the story to end thanks to a certain someone showing up at the very last panel but I was also really impressed at how satisfying this last chapter was. After so many years into the story, both Casca and Guts finally got to spend some quality time with their son before reuniting with Griffith.

Hell, getting to see Casca get her mind back a few years ago was already enough of a miracle to witness. I'm just thankful that we got this far.

Thank you, Miura... I'll never forget about you and your beautiful works.

Fuck, just caught up with the manga, and we leave off on a cliffhanger. Big sad :(

If nothing is planned for the future of the manga by Miura's team and they and the publishers call it quits, then I say it's a well deserved ending. The only thing I'll be looking forward to now is the anime adaptation that the series wholeheartedly deserves.

10/10 manga.

I can't fathom the violence that Guts is feeling in his heart right now. Imagine, finding out that your son and Griffth, the man who killed your family & raped the person you love the most, are 2 beings living in the same body. That's nuclear material right here.

Griffith?! What the fuck?! Why would Griffith be in the child of moonlight's body? Was this Griffith's way of trying to relive the time when all three of them were together? Are there actually two Griffith's? Like, Femto is evil Griffith, and the child of moonlight is the good Griffith that has actually been watching over Guts and Casca all this time? Oh, man. My mind is racing.

Thank you, Miura-sensei, for everything you put into this incredible work of art...

Guts & Casca's child became Griffith's host body during the Incarnation Ceremony in Albion. However, Griffith didn't take over the body entirely, traces of the Child remained. It is he who watched over Guts & Casca, his parents, on nights of full moon. Here's a picture side-by-side for the Demon Child maturing into Griffith's host body in chapter 171 and the child reverting into Griffith at the end of chapter 364.

If you want to be even more mind blown, Guts & Casca's child was in Chapter 1 inside the Snake Baron's jail watching over Guts. What are the odds that he ended up reunited with his parents for the final chapter? A chapter that is not the End but happened to be the last we'd get. There's something poetic about the whole affair.

@TBSM I didn't even make the connection that it was Griffith in 171! I went back to chapter 1 and lo and behold, the child of moonlight is right there. I'd totally forgotten.

I think we all know how the story truly ends. Guts leaves Casca and crew to venture out and become a demon-hunting mercenary that eventually becomes

It was only Miura's final chapter because he died, that's it. We were maybe 50-60 chapters away from THE End. Also, as I said previously, the Child was used as host body for Femto/Griffith's rebirth in chapter 171. This "reveal" was planned over 2 decades ago.

I started the series back in May when it was announced that Miura had passed. I regret not reading this series sooner. It was an amazing through and through from the artwork to the storytelling.

I would be 100% completely okay if the story ends here: Guts and co. have found meaning and deep companionship through their shared struggle and journey.

Casca has regained her self awareness again although not completely restored because of the deep trauma, healing and progression is a journey in of itself.

Though Guts had set out on his journey originally to find a cure for Casca and vow his revenge on Griffith, the way his body has began to wear away is telling of a change in heart—or rather how he's now grown on this journey by opening up to others.

The meeting between Guts, Casca, and Griffith in the final panel of the story I believe was no coincidence.

Rest easy.

End of an era. I'm taken back in awe how this chapter ended, it's too poetic. The potential follow-up discussion to Griffith's statement could go so many ways but we'll never know what Miura planned to go afterwards. Guts, Casca, and Griffith in the same chapter one last time. Too good.

Conviction Arc: Egg of Perfect World swallows Demon Baby before he hatches Griffith. Demon Bebe fuses with Griffith's vessel as confirmed on the Hill of Swords.

On full moon nights, when magical energy is at it's highest, the Moonlight Boy, purified due to the Reincarnation Ceremony (Conviction Arc end) can take over Griffith's body and he visits his parents. It is suggested in this chapter by Danaan that this may be due to some fairy-like property emanating from the boy, but this concept hasn't been fully explained yet.

But we caught on that Moonlight Boy was Guts and Casca's child for a while now. It was basically confirmed after Femto slept with Charlotte ten chapters or so ago... he looks at his hair turning black and disappears out the window... but we've theorized this for some time, as visual indicators and clues abounded.

if the publishers and assisstants dont make chapter 365 and the next chapters , then i will just pretend that chapter 364 and berserk manga end at page 21 ( casca is sleeping with the child ) , and i will pretend that the last 5 pages with the plot-twist , cliff-hanger dont exist .

the end of berserk : everyone lives happily ever after on this island . everyday is a peaceful , normal day that is shown in the 1st pages of chapter 364 .

Probably the most thought provoking work of a manga to ever grace my youthful mind. What a journey start to finish.

_Alysha_ said:
The practicality of this chapter makes me wonder if Miura knew his life's status was limited, as if this would be the final chapter anyway. There's many 'goodbye' sentiments within: mostly family orientated closure - this wasn't just a goodbye to fans or Berserk, it was a goodbye to his close friends and family. In a sense he's also apologizing and wishes things could be different but this is just how his life has been.
I'm having second thoughts on Griffith's choice now and it's causing a cognitive dissonance within my reasoning of his commitment to become Femto. As if the old Griffith is stuck in a demon and can't get out, wishing things could be different, looking back on his life choices and wishing things were different. All in all accepting reality. This is Miura projecting and it makes this chapter so emotionally engaging and satisfying. Spectacular ending to a manga and a man who put everything into his work.
RIP

This was wonderfully put, I was wondering the same thing regarding the theme of wishing for things to be different. It really is as if Griffith was mourning that he couldn't reach his 'original' dream or ideal in a more preferable way than he did, turning his head while gazing at Guts in a mournful manner, as if he is saying farewell to the what could have been. And combined with the elements/projections of the late Miura himself, this chapter, within the Theme of Accepting already being a core trait of this amazing tale, is way more comforting than I expected.

Yeah, together one last time before Guts goes berserk and tries to cut off Griffith's head while Casca has a breakdown after realizing that the man who raped her & her son are 2 beings inside the same body. Yeah when the chapter came out it was 2019. I think I stopped reading somewhere around that time so I don't think I would've connected the dots either until my reread this year. That's the thing with Berserk, there are so many more things you'll catch on re-read and it is infinitely re-readable.

Can't believe Miura ended his run with one of his best chapters in a long time. While it is extremely disappointing that we'll never get to see the following interaction that would've ensued, this is a good enough open-ended thematic ending to Berserk. That one of Griffith's most vile and unnecessary acts, borne entirely of resentful pettiness, would eventually cause a crack in his godly armor is nothing short of divine retribution. The man who lost everything found peace while the man who conquered all was left empty. A sentimental victory for Guts, if not the revenge he was seeking.

Funny that despite all, Berserk still managed to land a more poignant conclusion than most long-running manga. Rest in peace, Miura. You did great work.

But then this twist happens? It really feels like we have been soo close to the climax of this massive saga.

I believe the story was about 80% completed and would have ended within the next 6-7 years. I hope Miura left a plan behind for someone worthy to pick up and finish his work, like Robert Jordan did with The Wheel of Time series. I refuse to believe Miura would want the work of a lifetime to remain unfinished.

It just means that Guts's party will need to find a way to separate the Child & Griffith before Guts can cut off the latter's head. Lucky them, they are in the Kingdom of the Flowerstorm Queen, I'm sure Danan will come up with a solution.
